Tropical forest destruction much worst in Indonesia/Malaysia – report
31/5/2008 New Scientist citing Swiss Federal Institute of Technology report Indonesia and Malaysia have long denied that their tropical forests are being burned to make way for biofuel but evidence contradicts this. Betweeen 1990 and 2005 palm plantation has rocketed by 1.87 m. hectares in Malaysia and 3m. hectares in Indonesia ( Data from UN Food and Agriculture Organisation). More than half of the palm planations came from pristine, intact forest in Indonesia and previously logged forest in Malaysia.
