The Big Ask film clip, recorded on the beach in Oostende in August 2008, is being

used by Friends of the Earth across Europe in support of their “Big Ask” campaigns for

national climate laws which will ensure annual cuts in greenhouse gas emissions.

Friends of the earth groups from Finland to Malta and from Spain to Latvia have

been distributing the clip online, via mainstream media and at public and political

events.

Some highlights:

- The clip was viewed by 35,000 people in Hyde Park at the end of the “Put

People First” demonstration as part of the protests at the G20 meeting of

world leaders in London in March.

- It was shown to official delegates at the UN climate conferences in Poznan

(Poland) and Bonn (Germany), and will inspiring many thousands of people to

attend the climate conference in Copenhagen in December 2009.

- It has been seen in cinemas across Ireland, supporting the Age of Stupid

climate change feature film, and has inspired a similar event on the beach in

Dublin.

- The clip has been shown on national TV in many countries including France

and Norway.

- In Finland, one influential conservative MP signed up to the Big Ask campaign

immediately after seeing the clip. He has a daughter the same age as the

actress in the clip.

- The clip will feature as part of the Coldcut tour in 10 countries across Europe in

2009 and 2010.

- The clip has been shown at events organised by Green and Social Democrat

groups in European Parliament.

Internationally the clip is receiving widespread international distribution through the

Friends of the Earth International federation. Groups from as far afield as Togo,

Swaziland, Colombia and Australia are already using the clip to support their

campaigns for fair solutions to the climate crisis. The clip has been distributed to UK

Foreign office officials (including diplomats and ambassadors) and will be used by

them to explain need for climate legislation to senior politicians worldwide,

particularly in South and Central America.

The clip has also been shown at film festivals in the US, Greece, Japan…
