The fundamental question is sustainability

The fundamental question determining the future of humanity is whether human society will change so that it becomes sustainable before it is too late.   So it is vital to understand what sustainable means.

We need to understand what sustainability means.

We need to appreciate how unsustainable human society has become and how it will end if we do nothing..

We need to understand that a sustainable society is not a regression to the stone-age but a more sophisticated and acceptable society, in fact for many people a more desirable one than our present society.

We need to understand that this is the fundamental choice - there is no other option.

So all present human activities that are unsustainable must be identified and stopped within a time frame of decades not centuries.  At current decisions and expenditures must be reassessed in these terms.

IF YOU UNDERSTAND SUSTAINABILITY - EVEN AT JUST THIS FIRST LEVEL - AND YOU CONSISTENTLY TEST EVERYTHING YOU HEAR WHEN PEOPLE ARGUE  AGAINST THE TEST OF  SUSTAINABILITY  - YOU WILL BE SURE THAT YOU ARE HEADING THE RIGHT WAY.
